Family Argument Turns Violent
Interlachen, FL: At approximately 3:30 pm on Sunday August 24, 2014, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Major Crimes detectives responded to 284 Sleepy Hollow Drive, Interlachen, in reference to a domestic dispute involving a stabbing. On arrival contact was made with 52 year old Ronald Allen Cormier who said he had been stabbed in the arm by his 54 year old brother Edward Paul Cormier. In a sworn statement, Ronald said his brother stabbed him when their argument over his taking a cigarette from Edward’s cigarette pack turned physical. Both men and an independent witness were interviewed during the investigation. After interviewing all parties it was determined that Ronald had been the one who actually wielded the knife during the fight and had ended up accidentally cutting himself in the process.
Edward was placed under arrest and transported to the Putnam County Jail where he was booked on the charge of battery. As the battery is domestic related, he is currently being held without the benefit of a bond. Ronald will have the charge of filing a false police report (by lying on his sworn statement) forwarded to the State Attorney’s Office.
