Teamwork Removes Illicit Drugs from the Street

Bryan SharperSan Mateo, FL:  At approximately 1:10 pm on Friday January 10, 2014, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Sergeant Thomas Swart received information from a Putnam County Sheriff’s Office narcotics detective that a light green Sebring was leaving the Kangaroo located at Horse Landing and Highway 17 and the driver had been observed with what appeared to be illegal drugs in his possession. Sergeant Swart took a stationary position at River Trail and Highway 17 and conducted a traffic stop after he observed the vehicle drive by with the passenger not wearing his seat belt. While speaking with the driver, later identified as 25 year old Bryan J. Sharper, Sergeant Swart smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.  Further investigation revealed a gram sized baggie of cocaine, 19 grams of marijuana and 17 Xanax pills. Sheriff Jeff Hardy said “This arrest is an excellent example of the Drug Unit and Uniformed Patrol working hand in hand to remove drugs from the streets of our County”.
 
Sharper was placed under arrest and transported to the Putnam County Jail where he was booked on the following charges and then later released on a $5,520.00 bond.

  • Two counts of the distribution of amphetamines
  • One count of the possession of marijuana
  • One count of the possession of drug equipment
